The US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC) presented Wells Fargo with the “Corporation of the Decade” Award at the black-tie Excellence Awards Gala on the first night of USPAACC’s flagship national CelebrAsian Procurement Conference, held June 1 – 3, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner of the Award was announced at the Gala.
The award was presented by USPAACC National President & CEO Susan Au Allen and Juan Perez, UPS Chief Information Officer and the Gala Keynote Speaker.
“Wells Fargo has demonstrated true-blue commitment and steadfast support to enable influential and positive impact on growing Pan Asian American businesses nationwide,” said Susan Au Allen, USPAACC National President & CEO. “Through a sustained 10-year relationship backed by action, Wells Fargo has worked closely with USPAACC, dedicating resources, offering ideas and talents to educate, train and create an environment where the very diverse and fastest-growing Pan Asian American business community could flourish, generating over $699.5 billion in annual sales.”
Wells Fargo’s Regina O. Heyward, Senior Vice President and Head of Supplier Diversity, Georgette “Gigi” Dixon, Senior Vice President and Director of Strategic Partnerships, and other team members present at the event went on stage to accept the award on behalf of the bank.
Since 2003, Wells Fargo has been the legacy or major sponsor of various USPAACC programs, including the instant-hit “Ideas Marketplace: What’s Your Pitch?” competition that provides the platform for startups to grow their business and find investors; Microgrants program that offers grants up to $70,000 to local and regional organizations to assist in expanding capacity and technical assistance to strengthen their respective business members; the Chambers Training Institute program, a $1.2 million program that supports joint efforts among the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, USPAACC, U.S. Black Chambers, and NGLCC to provide chamber leaders free, two-day, results-oriented learning experience to develop operational and managerial skills across a wide range of topics; Asian Business Leadership Awards (2004-2010) presented to outstanding Asian American business owners for their vision, success and community involvement; and many more designed for educational and business development.
The Conference theme “Today’s Vision, Tomorrow’s Reality: Cheers to the Next 30 Years!” speaks to the power of transformative ideas that entrepreneurs envision and reflects the promise of a new and boundless horizon as they work hard to realize their dreams.
UPS Chairman and CEO David Abney served as the Honorary Conference Chair. Corporate Host Co-Chairs were The Coca-Cola Company, Nissan, SunTrust Bank and UPS. Asian American Business Co-Chairs were Ampcus and Softpath System. Legacy Co-Chairs were PepsiCo and Wells Fargo.
CelebrAsian Procurement Conference 2016 hosted over 800 participants, who came in full force from all over the country, including 94 corporations, 22 Government Agencies, and 14 media partners. Over 500 pre-scheduled one-on-one business matchmaking meetings were held between buyers and suppliers, across various industries and with over 50 commodity categories to be purchased in the next 12-18 months.
